Turkish Association For The Study Of The Liver Scholarship and Awards Directive for Encouraging Scientific Research

Turkish Association For The Study Of The Liver will provide financial support to scientific studies in the following 5 fields.

1. EASL – AASLD Congress Young Researcher Scholarship:

Application conditions for this scholarship: a) To be accepted as an oral or poster presentation to EASL – AASLD Congresses b) To have the study done in Turkey c) To be the first name in the paper or to be the person who will make the presentation d) To be under the age of 40. The participation of the young researcher who documents these conditions to the scientific congress (congress registration, transportation, accommodation) is organized by the Turkish Liver Research Association. In case of application, this scholarship is given to at least one person each year. If the number of applications is high, the number of scholarships is determined by the board of directors. The participation of the researcher whose work was an oral presentation during EASL or AASLD or who won any award (congress registration, transportation, accommodation) to the next National Hepatology congress and presenting this study there again is organized by Turkish Association For The Study Of The Liver

2. Young Researcher Study Abroad Scholarship:

Application Conditions for this Scholarship: a) Going to a clinic or laboratory abroad to gain experience and conduct research on liver diseases b) Being under the age of 45 c) Obtaining an acceptance certificate from the center d) Studying abroad for at least 3 months e) Study abroad scholarships can be extended up to 12 months in 3-month periods. At the end of each quarter, an activity report of the researcher’s work must be submitted to the board of directors. Financial support is provided to the young researcher who certifies these conditions, up to a total of 12,000 Euros, of which 1000 Euros per month (3000 Euros in 3 months) are provided in quarterly increments. Air tickets (one round trip) and health insurance are also paid by TASL to those who receive scholarships for study abroad.

3. National Hepatology Congress Best Paper Awards:

a) Oral and poster presentation award committees of 5 people are selected for each national congress by the congress organizing committee. b) Awards are distributed to the best 3 oral and 3 poster presentations selected by the award committees as follows: Oral Paper: 1st 4000 TL 2nd 3000 TL 3rd 2000 TL Poster Notice 1st 2500 TL 2nd 2000 TL 3rd 1500 TL

4. Support Scholarship for Scientific Research Projects:

a) In case of an application, at least 1 clinical or basic science-related research project will be supported each year. If the number of applications is high, the number of projects to be supported is determined by the board of directors. b) Research projects should be on subjects related to liver and biliary tract physiology/diseases. c) Prior to application, research projects must have received approval from the local ethics committee. d) The candidate must state the support received from other institutions or organizations in the application form. e) The principal investigator of the study, which is decided to be supported, notifies the progress of the study in writing to the board of directors of our association in the form of an annual report. f) In case the study is presented at a conference and/or as an article in a journal, it is obligatory to indicate the support received from TASL.

5. Scientific Publications Encouragement Award:

Researchers who have published original articles on liver and bile duct physiology/diseases in journals included in SCI between the two national congresses (first name in the publication) can apply for this award. If the first name of the article and the correponding author are different names, the application is made with the joint signature of both names. Applications are made within one month before the National Hepatology Congress. Scientific research must be done in Turkey. Evaluation is made by a 5-person arbitration committee to be determined by the board of directors. The impact factor of the journal is used as a ranking criterion. First Selected publication; 7,500 Second Selected publication; 6,000 The Third Selected publication will be rewarded with 5,000 TL.
